Felix Scott
I am an undergraduate mathematics student from Australia in my fourth (and final) year, currently studying at the University of Queensland. Here is my CV.
Research Interests
My research interests lie in the representation theory of Lie algebras, with a particular focus on infinite-dimensional examples such as Kac–Moody algebras and their affine subfamily. These algebras extend the classical theory of semisimple Lie algebras and play an important role in mathematical physics, notably in the study of conformal field theories.
Tutoring
In addition to my studies in mathematics, I have a strong passion for teaching. I am currently employed as a tutor at UQ, where I have taught the following courses:
- MATH1052: Multivariate Calculus & Ordinary Differential Equations (2024, 2025; Lead tutor in 2025)
- MATH1061: Discrete Mathematics I (S2, 2025)
- MATH1050: Mathematical Foundations II (S1, 2025)
- MATH2100: Applied Mathematical Analysis (S2, 2024)
About Me
Mathematics is a large part of my life, but I have other interests outside my studies:
- I play guitar, both electric and acoustic, and I collect guitars, amplifiers, and pedals.
- I enjoy reading, particularly ethical philosophy and philosophy of religion. My favourite author is Peter Singer.
- I love music and enjoy discovering new artists. Recently I’ve been into J.J. Cale, Django Reinhardt, and Linkin Park; my all-time favourites include John Mayer, RHCP, U2, Dire Straits, The Church, and The Smiths.
